The retail salesroom is closed until July, 2008 when we open with picked and pick your own red tart Montmorency cherries and red raspberries. Apple gift box shipments have ceased for 2007. Thanks to everyone who came to our orchard,

To be certain the current information comes up on your computer - click on the "reload" button.

The Beginning Availability column is the date each variety is available in the salesroom. As each variety is sold out these dates are posted in the Ending Availability column. "The TBA" refers to dates To Be Announced.

The parentage list names the most previous cross: the first variety listed provided the pollen, and the second apple listed provided the ovary. For a list of apple equivalents, scroll to the bottom of the page. If you want your apples to stay crisp and crunchy - always refrigerate.

One-half peck of apples. About 5 pounds. Approximately 14 medium apples, about two or three pies.

One-half bushel of apples. About 20 lbs. Approximately 50 medium apples, or about 8 pies, or 10 to 12 quarts applesauce.

One bushel. A volume measure - 2,150.42 cubic inches. About 40 to 42 lbs., Depending on size and variety of apples. About 100 medium apples. About 20 pies, 20 to 22 quarts sauce, 30 to 34 quarts slices.

Apple Lady Bug Treats

  • 3 - 4 small apples
  • 1/4 cup raisins, dried cherries, chopped or slivered nuts, small candies, currants, small chocolate bits, etc. You can use M & M's for eyes.
  • 2 - 4 tablespoons peanut butter or spreadable caramel that comes in tubs or squeeze bottles.
  • 8 thin pretzel sticks

Using a melon ball utensil, remove the core, cut apples in half, place each flat side down on a plate. Using a knife, spread peanut butter or caramel on the back of the "lady bug." Stick the nuts, raisins or candies on for spots. For antennae - make small holes in each side of the "head" of the lady bug, insert pretzel sticks into the holes. To make ahead of time - dip the cut side into a lemon water mix, or use a commercial preparation to keep cut side from darkening.
